30 years? I think it is more like 35 to 40 years ago! We were deep into the cassette era in '82. The cd also made it's debut in '82. If we could only put time in a bottle!
You're probably right or at least closer to 40 years ago. Not unusual to have many an 8 track cassette 'eat' a tape! More often in the Winter cold!
Many such units were bolted to the underside of STEEL dash's! Ahhh CCR.<g>
