Last time I did this, I used the bottom on my balsa knife blade (the part that doesnt have an edge) as a scraper. Another approach was to place some newspaper on the area with residual covering and iron over it, when you pull the newspaper off, it takes most of the covering off as well. However the second approach left gooey areas and I reverted cack to scraping
