Default RE: STATIC Hooben Elefant?

Panther F, I have an elephant kit that I bought from Bob at ETO armor. The kit as sold comes with traverse and elevation servos for the main gun.It also has a very nice setup for track adjusting
built in.The main drive sprockets at the rear attach to a stub shaft 7/16" in diameter which passes through a i/2" long roller bearing. The stub shaft then connects to the output shaft of the gearbox
via two set screws each.I don`t see why anyone would supply all this fine machineing just for a static model? Also, have you checked the prices of the Tamiya MFU-01 and the TO-3 ? They are not inexpensive anymore, since they each run over $200.00 apiece, not counting the TBU which goes for $75.00,unless you go somewhere else than e-bay or the tank museum.Thats the path that I followed. If you then bought a Tamiya gearbox( don`t know what they cost) you may then have to modify the new gearbox shaft to fit the stub shaft coming from the drive sprocket.I don`t see how
you can effect a cost savings of around $70.00 that way.Good luck in your endevours.
