Default RE: M 48 R C Conversion

Hi Guys an Gals,
Bet you thought I forgot. Well here are some decostruction pics of the 21st Centurt M-48 that I plan on RCing with working suspension.

1st. There is only five screws holding the top to the bottom. Came off pretty easy.

2nd. The wheels are glued together, but seem to part with a little pressure. ( don't get me wrong, once the glue releases, it's still a bit to pull the halves apart. This is a well made model )

3rd. Once the wheeels are seperated. It's easy to pull the pressure pins out.

4th. I discovered that the swingarms have a sleeve that fits into the axel shaft ( loss for words to discibe better ) and 3 out of four seperated nicely. The one that didn't came apart flush ( see pics )

5th. I also discovered that the Pershing shock absorbers will fit almost like the snubbers so long as I attache them to the roadwheel axel. I'm thinking of using a long srew that the shocks can attach to. The wheel will hide most of the spring and the shock absorber will only mount a bit higher then the original snubber ( eye balling, as I haven't done it yet ).

Anyway. Didn't want you all to think I had given up on the project. Just takes me a while to figure everything in my head ( it's already crammed with useless knowledge as it is ) LOL.

Any usefull advice will be greatly appeaciated as I'm kinda just doing this on the fly ( no real plans etc...).

I also want to ask for suggestions on stregthening the swing arms. The swing arms a bit longer then the HL swing arms ( so I need to use the ones from the model ). I was thinking of reenforcing the back side with styrene strips. Any thoughts ??

Hope you like what I have so far posted.

Thanks
Jim
