Default RE: Any Experience?

With the Tower discount code which is $9.99 you'll get the coupon codes in your email. Then the Motley Crew which is $349 http://www.towerhobbies.com/products.../aqub2100.html you can get for $300 and free shipping that is the much better deal vs the boat you listed. The boat you listed also looks like this: http://www.nitrorcx.com/99b-10021-650-ep-artr.html which is more in the price range I would expect. The $283 from Value is just too high for what you get IMHO. <div>
</div><div>About the motor the kv is just way way to high. Your target unloaded rpms is mid to high 20k to low to mid 30k. To get that number it's kv x voltage. So let's say 4122 is the motor kv.</div><div>
</div><div>2s (7.4v) x 4122 = 30,502 which is more in the proper range. </div><div>3s (11.1v) x 4122 = 45,754 unloaded rpms which is just out of control and not needed</div><div>
</div><div>So the boat can be fine on 2s in terms of unloaded rpms, but the high kv really limits your prop selection. That high kv is all about top end rpms and not about torque which is opposite in what you want in boating. If I was to purchase that boat I would throw the motor away or put it in one of my cars which is where that motor is better suited, it's not a good boating unless your in a 2s race class setup which that kv range could work for other then that it has no place in sport boating and not recommended for the average rc boater. </div><div>
</div><div>The Motley Crew, Impulse 31, Mystic and Miss Geico are all 4s boats (2x 2s lipos in series). They are all rather close in out of the box speed and all perform excellent. Customer service for Horizon and Tower are both excellent and part are easy to obtain. The mono (impulse 31) will handle chop better then the cats will.  </div><div>
</div><div>I've owned 2 boats similar in size to the boat you listed and both ran on 4s and both where fast as hell.</div><div>
</div><div>This boat ran 4s on ul1 power which is a 60amp esc, and the 3656 size motor with 2030kv motor and x440: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibBA7YHXjTI </div><div>This boat is a Delta Force 23" mono running on 4s 120amp seaking esc with a 2860 size motor 2550kv and a y537/3 prop: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHq9h78pFEE</div>
