Hi I have 3 SLUs and will be getting more. The sounds are great (I thnk there beter than Tamiya)it handles like a Tamiya performance wise,O K. the battle unit needs a lttle work but I think it is possible to modifie it for very little cost to have 45 degree defence and also slope defence,it should also help shade the sensors for direct sunlight.the idea I have had will make it look like a box on top .But who says it has to be round.Another idea is to have sunshades fitted to each sensor extending out to stop side shots.
As for other types of Battle unit,I have DBU ,TBU,Modified Heng long units with lights and 4 sensors,Elmod battle unit, also have a few tanks with hidden battle units in side the cupolar .Which Martin(expat)dosnt like at all he says you cant see where to aim,but the all take hits form all sides and have flashing lights also around cupolar and in the engine deck.
All my new builds will have the SLU fitted ,and I intended to upgrade all of my tanks fitted with DBCs will cost abit and will take time. But I havnt had any problems with the SLU the cost is half the cost of Tamiya DMD/MF,comes as a complete package ,works well with both 3:1 gears and standard gears.plenty of power to move a big tank 30amps .
I have had the SLU running along side an EL-mod with the same speakers the El-mod is only just slightly better, the sounds of the tracks just tipped it el-mods way ,as for the other sounds engine start ect equal to the el-mod.But you can have 2 sets of SLUs for the price of an El-mod setup. El-mod does have a place doing things other systems cant,Meteor engine for example no one dose this sound.
regards pete
What Kind fo DBC have you got?
