It all depends what you want your tank to do! Your HL will happily Pootle about indoors and on light terrain. People seem to think the rx18 to be a decent ESC (IMO I think it's rather jerky and doesn't help handling on grass). Although this does seem to be when used in combination with a DBC and hobby radio, but then with that the price is already rising. For more serious work I still think the SLU offers the best value for money as it provides a fantastic ESC great sound and is very flexiable for battling as it can be programmed via the remote control which is supplied. The battle system, speaker and LEDs are all supplied too.
