Some of the polyurethane cans are fuel resistant, not proof. They are better if they can cure for a couple of days to a week. As long as you do not soak it with fuel, clean it up after the flight with alcohol you should be OK.

Do you have a automotive paint store around? They might be able to mix up a 2 part clear and pout it in a spray can?
