I recently bought an ECX Ruckus for my wife. You can NOT go wrong with that truck! The price is unbeatable, and it comes with EVERYTHING you need in the box...including the AAs. The weakest part of the truck is the body, but everything else is almost bullet proof. It's got pretty good speed out of the box, especially for a small child. I would highly recommend upgrading the front bumper though - the stock bumper is about as effective as what comes on a Traxxas Stampede. T-Bone Racing makes a really nice front bumper for bashing and beginner drivers. The truck looks good, is hobby level (which means you can upgrade it when the time comes), but is designed specifically for beginners.
