Default RE: Balsa USA 1/4 Scale Nieuport 28 Build

It's interesting that you would want the bottom wing to stall first. The "typical" setup for a biplane is to have the top wing stall first. This has the effect of moving the center of pressure rearward along the wing chords and causes the nose to drop therefore recovering from the stall. The idea is that if the lower wing were to stall first the opposite effect would occur...the CP moves forward pitching the nose up and thus entering a deeper stall. However, practical experience trumps theory, and if your plane flys well, what more could you ask?

BTW, based on recommendations here, I cut a bunch of 3/16" square hardwood stringers and started installing them today. I compared the weight of the balsa vs the hardwood (pine) and found that each pine stringer weighed approximately twice as much as the balsa ones...6 grams vs 3 grams. I estimate that this will add about 2 ounces to the tail of the plane.
