Wow dragging up a six year old post, must have looked hard for this one.

If you follow the manual for instaling the Kero start plug and slow the pump down as instructed in the manual to only give a drip out of the Kero supply tube you should not have a problem, all of my retrospective conversions have worked without any problems, by just following the manual.
