Default gp cessna and pitts muffler

hello everyone, have a question my my muffler with the gp planes cessna i put the 46fx and a pitts style muffler, but the to exhaust pipes coming off the muffler one of them is right in line with the nose gear. There is maybe a 1/4 inch clearence from the top. I was wondering would it be okay to cut that one pipe say a 1/4 inch off of it and put a exhaust deflector on there made from dubro to keep the fuel and all off of the wheel pants and wheel thanks mike
