WoWhobbies.com has the CopterX 250SE on sale right now for 159 plus shipping. comes with everything but RX/TX...even a case too! Just ordered one yesterday and they are still in stock.

Not sure what you are expecting when you say intermediate though. They classify it as Expert. Im definitely no expert and am sure I'll be able to fly it. So, go figure.
That sounds like the total cost would be a lot more then his $150.00 budget.
