RE: Venus II
I don't have time right now to take the airplane apart for photos. The muffler is MAC #6990 and Tower LXSXF2. The extension was ordered from a local HS and is OS # E5020. I hack sawed it in half and filed the sawn edge smooth. It does not leak. You also need 2 Dubro allen screws for the correct thread of the muffler and a length for the new extension. Now assemble the engine with the mounted muffler and the engine mount. Hold that assembly on the firewall and center the muffler in the exhaust opening on the airplane. Mark and drill your mounting holes. The cylinder comes out a bit below horisontal. I am including three photos thst should help. The firewall photo also shows the pump I installed when I moved the tank to the CG. This cured the constantly changing elevator trim problem. Good luck. I should also mention that I used the exhaust deflector that MAC makes for their mufflers. This is a short curved tube that fits over the end of the muffler and is secured in place by a worm gear hose clamp.
