RE: SIG Mark II Engine ?
I am training beginners with an old Kadet Mk.II powered by an OS .40 FP, which is comparable to the LA. It's perfect. We fly at 1/2 throttle or less most of the time. There is some reserve; not a lot, but then the idea is to avoid trouble, not to learn how to point straight up and power out of it. The student pilot I had last week kept talking about how much he liked that plane.
We fly from a grass field that is kind of bumpy. If the motor is running rich the takeoff looks marginal (but it gets off), but properly adjusted it is absolutely fine.
We also have another club trainer flying with an OS 40 LA and it is fine too. If you have a 40 LA, go ahead and use it. If not, the .46 LA is fine. Also the TT .42 GP is a good engine for a plane of this size. Forget the powerful BB engines. You don't need it and there is no reason for it on this plane. Total weight with a plain bearing motor should be about 5 lbs.
