Default wing bolts instead of rubberband?

I have a general question regarding adding wing hold down bolts on ARFs that were designed to used rubberband.

I plan to drill a hole in wing leading edge for dowel and add two bolts on trailing edge. But I am not sure how the dowel can be glued into the wing, since it's mostly made out of balsa. I have not joined the wing halves yet, and I can probably cut into the ribs and add reinforcements. But before I dig in, I thought maybe there are easier ways.

The specific plane I'm working on is a Modeltech Magic.

TIA for any help.
