I have a general question regarding adding wing hold down bolts on ARFs that were designed to used rubberband.
I plan to drill a hole in wing leading edge for dowel and add two bolts on trailing edge. But I am not sure how the dowel can be glued into the wing, since it's mostly made out of balsa. I have not joined the wing halves yet, and I can probably cut into the ribs and add reinforcements. But before I dig in, I thought maybe there are easier ways.
The specific plane I'm working on is a Modeltech Magic.
TIA for any help.

Steph,
I have the same plane and the same plan. I haven't started building it yet. I'm also trying to figure out how to make the wing a bolt on. I heard that there is a bolt on version out there but my LHS only has the rubber band ones right now.
I got some tips on how to put on a steerable tail wheel that I plan on adding also.
I'll be watching this thread to see what comes out.

Go to www.greatplanes.com and download the manual for the PT-60 kit. This trainer has the option of building bolt-on or rubber band wing mounting. It has a laminated plywood rib in the center of the wing with a slot in it for the wing dowel. I am building the kit now and decided to go with the bolt-on wing. I finished the wing sheetiung Sunday night.
