I did not have trouble with battery installation and using one servo. Of course I just used a 750mah NiMh battery but that is what I used to use or less in the early 80's when that is all that came with radios. I get a good 5 10 minute flights on this setup..........and there is also recharging. I was also after a grab and go plane and this one fits the bill. I then bought the Escapade 60 size and love it as well.
