RE: Sin City Jets!
Sin City Jets was a success, was not a huge event, but a success. I say that because everyone had a good time! Perfect weather and great skies made for great flying!
Many thanks to George and the Dreamworks Mobile Hobby Shop, it was great to have him and his lovely wife on site to support the crew. High 5 to Ron with Epower for coming out and bringing his wares...
As always George Manning(sp?) showed up with a gorgeous T-33 and flew it to perfection. He also had his trusty classic flash....
Barry, from Kingtech, also showed up with a YF22 that he flew several times. As someone who has seen a full scale YF22 flight demo I can say that he flew his model in a very scale fashion and he nailed every landing. He was also able to support several Kingtech customers on site. He is a class act and I am glad to call him friend.
As Chad mentioned, my son Jake lost his trusty Bandit on his first flight of the event. Doing one of his signature slow rolls on the deck...he decided that he needed to bail out for whatever reason and when he reversed the roll the right wing exploded and the jet was lost. It happened in an eye blink and there was no way to save her. I am fairly sure the wing leading edge opened up and that was that. We never counted the exact number of flights but based on turbine run time at 8 minutes a flight we estimate 500+ flights. Its sad that she is gone but I think we got our monies worth out of her...
Paul and I would like to thank everyone that came out to fly with us, and we look forward to next year (we have some plans in the works that should make SCJ a event that can't be missed).
