Do not, repeat do not, buy a balsa airplane for WWII combat! It will end up being a beautiful shower of balsa in a very short time. Foam or fiberglass are the way to go hence JKA Aerotech or other foam based kit builders. Check Six plans are balsa and no one flying combat regularly will use balsa.

If you want a nice 1/12 scale sport model then buy a balsa Pica or Check Six kit but don't use it for combat.
