Update
I tried the "no heat" covering solvent. That actually seemed to do a really good job. (it's purpose after all, is to dissolve adhesive).
i did a test spot and i'm letting it dry to see if any sticky residue remains.......but i can tell you that so far, it has worked better than anything else i've tried.
