Default RE: SM Large Hawk Aileron Question...

ORIGINAL: sskianpour

Hey All,

See below. As I unpack my SM Large Hawk, can't help but notice there are no slots cut out for aileron horns. Normal? BVM manual doesn't mention anything neither do any of the build threads. If this is an oversight by Skymaster, I am not terribly thrilled as it makes me wonder exactly where the slots need to be (to the millimeter...PLEASE HELP!!!) and:

***how far back from the Aileron's LE should the slots be, and also how deep?

***I assume they should be perpendicular to the aileron hinge line?

*** And should there be hardpoints in there under the skin???

***If there aren't any am I stuck cutting out the skin and dropping hardpoints in? Hate to cut into a new Aileron skin [:@]

For those of you who have built the model, can you please chime in and a measurement and tons of close-up photos would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks in advance!
Shaz!

Shaz,
The aileron horns are covered on page 20 of the BVM manual.
The first operation on page 20 addresses the servo used, the servo orientation in relation to the servo pocket, and the servo arm used.
The second operation addresses the aileron horn drill size for the clevis pin, and the horn slot location and alignment.
The third operation is devoted to the the overall length of the pushrod.

Hope this helps.
