Default RE: Gas Groovy

ORIGINAL: tes21966

I am not sure that I am in the right forum for this question but I hope someone can help.

I have a World Models Groovy 90 that I have been flying with a Saito 125. I am thinking about removing the Saito and trying a gas engine. I was wondering if anyone has tried a DLE20 on the Groovy? The plane will just be a Sunday Flyer and not be used for any type competions.

Thanks
Let me suggest that you make the change. The DLE 20 has considerably more power than the Saito 125; run it with the stock muffler. Vibes and fuel consumption will drop and your toy will be much happier. Weight wise it should be a wash...the DLE is lighter but it has a CDI. Let me also recommend the Tech Aero IBEC IF you decide to go with the gas engine. It eliminates the second battery (5 to 6 ozs savings there) that typically drives the CDI. It is a far safer way to run gas engines plus you arm the CDI remotely with the TX. I use the retract switch for that. Plusits great to set-up your fail safe properly to disarm the CDI if you lose signal. You still crash of course but at least you're not chasing the model.

I have several threads in this forum that discuss all the details you need to be successful withthe popularsmall gassies of today.up to 60cc. Good luck
