Personally I dont't think fail safe should be set up to stop a combustion engine, but rather throttle back to idle, for two reasons:
1. An idling propeller will have a greater braking effect than a stopped propeller, thereby reducing the model's speed.
2. Often the radio link/control is regained after a "glitch", and you will then be able to make it back to the runway and land, instead of landing/crashing somewhere whith a stopped engine.
This is pilot's choise, of course.
