Oh you are going to be so happy you have a four stroke...I am even getting excited...I happen to be very lucky, my wife is very supportive of my hobby...She would sooner see me flying my planes than drinking in the bar or something like that... It sounds like you are just getting started..Before you know it you will have lots of motors...Swap meets are a great sourse of RC plane stuff .. Sometimes you can get unbelievable deals..As far as mounting inverted , I have better luck staying away from mounting inverted...I find when a motor is inverted if it has any extra fuel in it at all it runs to the bottom and pools there..Rite where the glow plug is..So of course it is very easy to flood...I just havent had much luck with invereted set ups although lots of others have ...I like to mount my motors up rite or laying on their side
