I am going to use a JR 400 as the slave for my DX7-does it have to have a battery in it to operate as the slave. My futaba's do not have to be turned on to operate. If the JR does then I need to buy another battery.

G'day Mate,
Yes you need a battery in the slave TX, but you don't turn it on with the switch, it comes on, but does not transmit,
when you plug the buddy lead in.
You will need to set all the trims & settings, so that when the trainer switch is operated on the master, no changes occur in the plane, elevators ailerons ect, remain still.
Also the master has to be set as the ''Master'' & the slave, set as the ''Slave''.
I don't know if the JR 400 has trainer capabillity, but the manual will explain.

Cheers
are you saying that I have to have a battery in, but don't turn it on. When I hook up the cord then the slave will come but not transmit. If that is so, then off to the store to get a battery. I have always buddy boxed with Futaba. but all of my planes have been changed over to spektrum.
Do you know if the JR400 is PPM. again I don't have a manual, purchased this for a buddy system and it is brand new, no box, no manual
