Luke, tell me about it. Only it is the office for me.

Been very busy in the office, but the Capiche is still coming along. Helps that the Girlfriend wanted to watch Sex in the City on Friday, then has been watching her new Pride and Predjudice DVD (oh Mr Darcy!)

So I have squeezed in a few hours. Wing is now nearly complete, just centre sheeting and cap strips to go. Try to get that done on Thursday. I seem to have built it without any warps, which is good, due to careful checking and the use of lots of pins to hold it in place while sheeting.

Three points to note:

- The leading and trailing edges are CNC cut along with everything else. A bit over the top on the whole, but I'm not complaining. Where is does cause a problem is that they are exactly the right size. It would have been easier if they were say 1/4 inch too long to make lining up easier when glueing to the wing. I managed to get both false leading edges wrong, and they are only half stuck onto R2 on each side.

- The trailing edge is not quite straight (looking in plan, ie from above). Not quite sure what has caused this, ie whether it is me or not (probably!). My only concern is that it is the same rib (R3) out by the same amount on each side. It is only about 2mm, if that, but is enough to be noticable when looking down the trailing edge. Easy to sand out when I sand the trailing edge though, so no worries.

- I screwed up the cutting of the trailing edge sheeting. After sheeting the front of the wing, you are left with two sheets, to be cut into 4 1" strips each. I got my 1 metre rule and cut down it, then discovered it is 1 1/4". This means I don't have enough to make the ailerons. I'll have to pick up another sheet of 1/16" at the weekend, I think I have some at my parents.

I'll post photos once wing and ailerons completed. Total of about 6 hours so far on the wing, so not long at all. All very straight forward. Would have been quicker/easier if I had a proper building board, rather than fiddling about on the floor![&:]

So coming along well, 2 1/2 weeks since it arrived, and most of it completed. Hope to be able to enter in the best dressed comp once done. Probably still 3 1/2 weeks away from that.
