Just my personal preference, skip the regulators! Use 2s A123 batteries and remove one more point of failure in your system. I like using 2 seperate 2S packs and isolating them with Schottky diodes just in case one cell goes bad (remote possibility). I have seen first hand a lost SM viper because of a burned up regulator. Just my 2 cents.
