That may be true, but I still use them. I can honestly say I have never lost an airplane to nimh batteries. Nor have I had a pack ever fail on me while in storage. I however have had duralites, and lipo's die completely on me while in storage. Never used A123's but will probably try them at some point. I just really appreciate the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" rule.

RE: REGULATORS TO JETS
This was extracted from a online mag:
"Donald R. Sadoway is the John F. Elliott Professor of Materials Chemistry at MIT. And he is convinced he has a responsibility to help the public understand what is at stake with Boeing’s (BA) 787 lithium-ion battery woes. He also has advice for how Boeing should attack the problem.
In a nutshell, Sadoway thinks that Boeing needs to monitor the temperature and cool each of the eight cells of the 787′s lithium-ion battery or switch to an older battery technology that has a far better safety record — nickel metal-hydride (NiMH)."
I didn´t studied at MIT but I don´t consider using nothing but NiMh´s in my jets.

RE: REGULATORS TO JETS
I know what you mean, I'm still using a pair of 5000's in my L39 nose but mainly because I needed ballast.
What I love about life's is they always seem to charge to capacity and don't self discharge, plus the no regulator thing, I don't use JR servo's.

RE: REGULATORS TO JETS
While it may stir up some trouble, I believe that A123's with no regulator and HV servos is the answer. I have had several servos (non HV) and 3 receivers fail due to high voltage (greater than 6 volts) being fed to the servos. While I know nothing (to speak of) about electronics, that is the word in person with the guys in Champagne, Il that work on this stuff (Horizon Hobby's).

For those who would like to learn more about this (and other things), I strongly recommend the following link: http://hangtimes.com/a123_batteries_for_giants_faq.html
