RE: Sig Ryan STA
Thought I wouldupdate you onthe progress of my Ryan. As I said before this is a beautiful model to build but it is not blessed with a lot of room in the fuse for all the electonics thatis typically found in today's planes...things like ignition modules, IBEC's, choke servos, you get the idea. It has been a real challenge to make it all fit and have it accessible should these items need service in the future.
I am using a single 2700 mAh JR Ni-MH battery that will power all of the planes electrical needs. I am alsousing an IBEC from Tech-Aero Designs which eliminates the need for a separate ignition battery and mechanical on/off switch, the LED power on/off indicator can be seen mounted next to the charge jack in the cockpit area. The IBEC is also hidden under the charge jack compartment and those with keen eyes will find the secondary receiver just above the charge jack as well.
Being curious about its current weight I decided to weigh my Ryan in its current state as seen in the photos, I'm at 6.4 pounds! I will need to cut off the ends of the pick-up sensor off and the engine's ignition module and lengthen this wire as it is too short.
