Tom,
I painted both mine and your F-104s and my F-22 with SW basecoat/clear. It goes on just fine. Reduce the clear 300 percent and mist on the first coat then flow on the second/third coat. You can tape in 20 minutes.

My next camo job will be latex house paint. Home Depot can match any color and the fumes won't kill you.
