Default RE: Hacker A30-12L vs Turnigy SK3 3542-1000Kv -Head to Head PERFORMANCE TEST

ORIGINAL: gaRCfield .... One reason that many of us choose to pay a lot more money for what looks awfully similar to something that costs a lot less, is a matter of trust. I am not going to drive hundreds of miles and many hours to a contest field to have a motor fail on me, because I opted to go with a less expensive look-alike (large itals).

Joe, I am afraid you have it quite wrong here. The Turnigy SK3 is NOT a Hacker "look-alike" ...
They are both based on the SunRay Technology 3020-970Kv 12T motor, which has a 3020 stator (obviously) and an ext diam 37mm, length 45mm -see http://static.rcgroups.net/forums/at...Technology.jpg

Hacker order these 3020-12T motors from SunRay Tech to be made with a purple colour rotating can and black end housings, and with a slightly different rear housing. Hacker then call this motor the "Hacker A30-12 L" motor and sell it for $101.
Hobbyking order the very same 3020-12T motors from SunRay Tech to be made with a chrome rotating can and silver end housings. They call it a "Turnigy SK3 3542-1000Kv" motor and sell it for $27.
Hyperion order the exact same 3020-12T motor from SunRay Tech to be made with a blue rotating can, and a longer tapered front housing. They call it a "Hyperion Z3019-12T" motor and sell it for $59
-They are ALL the exact same identical motor ...! One is NOT a "look alike" of the other. They are ALL "clones" of the SunRay Tech 3020-12T motor. ALL Hacker outrunner motors are just "clones" of SunRay Technology motors.

It seemsto me that some peoplemightreally want the Hacker motor to be somehow "better" or "higher" quality" compared to the Turnigy SK3 and the Hyperion-Z motor -because they havethis inner belief that "Hacker are the best"
Some people seem tohaveenormous difficulty accepting objective, scientificevidence that the Hacker A30 motor is exactly the same identical motor as the Turnigy SK3 3542 motor.
And perhaps that is why people mightraisequestions about "magnet glue" etc etc -because they might betrying to find somereason why theyhave ended up paying 4-fold more for aHacker motor, compared toanother completely and totally identical motor brand ...
