Default HL-Tiger I: How to increase spring tension

Hi guys,

how can you increase the spring tension on a HL-Tiger?

First possibility is to by tougher springs from supplier.

The cheaper one is to "adjust" the originals.

1. Open and remove the Tiger tracks

2. Remove the wheels

After removing the wheels, it looks like this.

Left side is mirror inverted.

Now the radial arms are in basic position. To move them into working position, you have to move them clockwise (left side) or counter clockwise (right side). To increase the needed power to do so, you have to increase the presstressing force of the spring.

To do so, unscrew the radial arms. Remove arms and springs. To provide mix up, finish one side first. The springs on the other side are mirror inverted.

On the picture you see a small hole. Compare the position with a watch, the hole is positioned at 07:00. It will be 05:00 on the other side.

To increase presstressing, you have to drill another hole in Position 09:00 and/or 11:00 and 03:00 and/or 01:00 on the other side.

For example: Right side 07:00 -> soft, 09:00 -> medium, 11:00 -> hard. Would not push it more.
For example: Left side 05:00 -> soft, 03:00 -> medium, 01:00 -> hard. Would not pusch it more.

My experience is as following: Right side from front to back -> 11:00 - 09:00 - 07:00 - 07:00 - 07:00 - 07:00 - 09:00 - 11:00
My experience is as following: Left side from front to back -> 01:00 - 03:00 - 05:00 - 05:00 - 05:00 - 05:00 - 03:00 - 01:00

Reassemble everything by using the according spring holes.

Now you will see, that the presstressing force of the spring vary to each other.

That´s it.

Greetings
Birger
