Foreword:

Since I own my Tiger I, I did many modifications to this model. Why? Because there are so many failures comming with this model, that there is plenty to do to change it into a real good model.

I also figured out, that many people have the same problems with their Tigers without knowing the failures or even not knowing how to correct them.

One day, I made a deal with another german forum member. He sent me his Tiger, I corrected most of the failures and created a series of articles about each failure and how to remove it with simple work.

To find all the single articles, I created an index where I could list all the failures and link them with the single articles.

After discussing these possibilities in this forum, I decided to do the same for you guys.

This will be the mother of the articles, so please stick it somewhere.

To follow the articles, just push the links under the appropriate headline.

In the end, there will be a list of 32 steps to follow.

I cannot do all the article at once, so they will appear step by step.

<span style="font-size: medium;">If you have a HL-Tiger 1 and did all the modifications, you will not have a scale model.

But after all this modifications, you have a model that really looks like a Tiger.

There are so many other technical things to do on the Tiger, even by adding accessories, it would be too much to show everything.

That&acute;s why I limited this one to the above points.

Thanks for this. Very good so far, and this will be a great reference for new guys who have their first HL Tiger. I like the way you are updating this post with the links to the others making it easy to find the articles.

I would suggest you post this index thread in the FAQ section once you are done. Some of this stuff has been covered before, but the way you are going to be indexing this information will make this easier to follow then the earlier stabs at this.

Since I purchased one late last year, over the last 6 months I have bookmarked numerous HL Tiger I threads on various forums, which when all are combined, contain a lot, if not most of the helpful or needed modifications for the tank. Still, it's very time consuming with information scattered about so widely in so many places. So regardless of whether most or all the information eventually contained within this guide can still be found somewhere else already, by scouring the internet, this will be a great all-in-one-place guide, &amp; much better alternative for many to use when working on their HL Tiger I tanks!

So thank you for taking the time to do an awesome job on this HL Tiger I help article &amp; index here on RCUniverse forums Birger, I have already bookmarked this thread, &amp; will definitely be using it when I start modifications on my HL Tiger I at some point later this year!

Heng Long tigers suck.

While the Tamiya kits are of very good quality, I agree with YHR here. 1st of all not everyone has a huge budget for a model. Secondly, Heng Long models provide VERY GOOD bases for upgrades and custom builds. For me, a Heng Long was my 1st tank. The legendary PanTiger for $89.99 from HobbyTron.com 7 years ago got me into the hobby because the massive price of the Tamiya was something I simply could not afford. For many of the guys here this is more than just a past time, this is a passion; this is art. We take a photo and or a video from history a replicate it in miniature. In a way, immortalizing that vehicle and crew forever; whether it be a tank or a halftrack or a jeep. Tamiya can, but really all other 1:16th brands provide a side of modeling that tamiya can't; and that's personal involvement. What I mean by that is tamiya has a great system and a very good layout with great electronics, but really the most you can do it add your own custom paint and weathering. With all models there will always be detail parts and some kind of upgrades. Other than that it's just an assembly process. In contrast, someone can take a heng long which needs work, home-make fixes and scratch-build what you don't have and you will appreciate the model more because you fashioned it with your own two hands. That's the drive of this hobby. Creating what doesn't exist and seeing it come to life and knowing that with your two hands you made that into what it is. Besides, there would be no point in all the wonderful electronic options like El-Mod, Benedini, the new Clark boards, the SLU, and other that are just coming on the market. I love tamiya ( I own a Tiger and a King Tiger) but I will never give up my heng longs because they are my work, my time, my sweat, and even my tears that have went into making that model everything I envisioned in my head.
