Don't think you'll be putting new bearings in your 65LA.  Lot of times you can get the sleeve out by heating it with a heat gun.  I would soak the whole engine in glow fuel and see if that loosened things up before I went tearing the whole thing down.  If he was running them on fuel that contained castor oil, they're probably just all gummed up and if you heat them up, they'll loosen right up to where you can crank them.
