All Hanger 9 planes are covered with Ultracote (also called Oracover in Europe). The best method is to use a heat gun and keep it moving. Once a temperature is reached with Ultracoat you will have to exceed that temperature the next time it needs shrinking so don't use any more heat than necessary. Use a soft cloth to press the covering onto the framework as necessary. If you only have access to an iron cover the iron with soft heat resistant fabric. I asked the lady in the local fabric department for these qualities and she sold me fabric that is made for baby diapers. It is very soft and heat resistant. One covering over the iron normally will last through an entire covering project for most sport size planes. A half yard (under $2.00) will last a very long time.
