Both of those are definitely good brands for radios. In fact, all of the major name brands (Futaba, Specktrum, Airtronics, Tactic, JR, and Hitech) will give you a good reliable radio to use.
As far as 2.4 Ghz goes, you would be hard pressed to buy anything that's not 2.4 Ghz. Unless of course you buy used equipment.
