Its annoying that there are so few mainstream combat-blooded modern tanks available on the market. I can only think of the Hooben T-55A. All the rest, like Leopard 1A4/2A6, ZTZ-99, have not seen conflict yet. I would love for either or both a M1A1/2 and a Challenger 2!
Well, LEO 2A6M's where deployed with Canadian forces in Afghanistan but I don't believe they saw any real tank combat. By that i mean tank on tank battles. The Challenger I i think saw some combat in Iraq so I'm pretty sure they may have had some tank on tank situations but the Abrams really is the only modern tank to see combat to the scale that a modern MBT is designed for. Although I really like modern Russian armor I'm not convinced they could or would be able to stand toe to toe with the Abrams even thought it is a 25 year old design. This tank was built to be upgraded. The Russians design an entire new tank every time they need to counter new tech on Western technology. Now i'm not knocking the Russian tanks. I think some are very cool tanks but there is alot of hype behind most of them.
