pretty much, except you don't need to strech and srink, you end up with little 3mm deep tabs you just fold down. you do need a sharp knife to get a clean edge.
'm not so worryied about a line in your case, just at best a v shape where they meet ( dure to the curve set whe ironing ) at worse total missalignment. ith the tips in place you sand the lot down. if you can't do tips neat, you've got two edge on unneat faces to glue... i just see it as over hard and bad news, too easy to get wrong.
Mind you, if the best we can argue about is how to cover the wing tips, says a lot for how good the plane is.
