I prefer to fully sheet and then simulate the fabric on my builds as well Lou. I have a bunch of high-res pictures of the FG-1D at the Museum of Flight and from what I can tell the fabric is stretched so tight that there is very little scalloping to be seen. I would probably just put on the stitches and tapes and be done with it. Maybe throw in a bit of creative air brushing. Food for thought.
