In answer to do I know it has a piston ring. Yes.
I don't think that's problem, as most of the high performance engines made recently ( I'm thinking OS Hypers and the likes) have had rings. I suspect YS used parts of the " ST61 heli engine" as the basis of the Classic.
in short, it certainly doesn't bother me, its just the way modern motors are made.


in terms of dropping the price it's probably more about lack of demand (people buying them). I'm really surprised that all the classic pattern planes have had short production runs. I suspect, despite a lot of people asking for them, they just didn't sell in sufficient numbers.
