My Feedback: (1)
I noticed the price change also.......and my Speed 13 does indeed turn with authority
We owe Buddy Shores (SMT) a huge "Thank you" for making these engines readily available to us.
Still curious about the YS though.

Hello there
I had been trying to get (with no success) a Hobby Barn Arrow and was planning on fitting the NR speed 13 to it.
The only advantage of the YS over a NR, discounting any power difference either way, would be that the YS would run better in an inverted configuration, with the fuel tank back over the C of G.
I have an old (still in box ) Hanno P Calypso and will be buying a YS Classic for it ( on the basis its a inverted installation).
I'm sure there must be someone with both the YS and NR , who could do a comparison
regards

Hello
In answer to do I know it has a piston ring. Yes.
I don't think that's problem, as most of the high performance engines made recently ( I'm thinking OS Hypers and the likes) have had rings. I suspect YS used parts of the " ST61 heli engine" as the basis of the Classic.
in short, it certainly doesn't bother me, its just the way modern motors are made.
in terms of dropping the price it's probably more about lack of demand (people buying them). I'm really surprised that all the classic pattern planes have had short production runs. I suspect, despite a lot of people asking for them, they just didn't sell in sufficient numbers.

I didn't buy the YS because it was $325 bucks when all of the competitive engines like it were a hundred dollars or more less. My Rossi's were $200 dollars with pipe and header. I know two people using the YS and it's a powerhouse. They don't post, they are usually out practicing and winning contests. It's a good engine to be sure.
Rodders if you really want an Arrow, Don at RCAiir will make yours and ship it in 10 days or less. Why mess around with vaporware when hundreds of complete kits have been sold since 2009 by RCAiir while other various "kitters" announce big but produce little? Don is finishing a gorgeous vacu-form machine to make large canopies, I saw it yesterday and can't wait to get my Miss Beetle with it's clear canopy.

Hi Guys,
I have just started flying with a Ys 61 classic and it is a very nice motor.
It did need 4 or so tanks on the bench but now runs great and very smooth.
As far as price, you get what you pay for.
Cheers Tom from Australia.
