Tamiya makes DMD and MFU pairs that are designed for different tanks, i.e., recorded engines, main guns and MGs. Buying them separately from a kit will run you around $400+ depending upon finding a deal. On top of that you'll need to buy a Battle Unit and IR emitter, probably around another $150 once they hit the shelves in October. Then you would still need a bunch of rewiring of connectors and a hobby grade Tx/Rx to get all of that to work in your tank.
With a HL, you'd be better off sticking with either another RX-18 and getting the DBC3 and battle unit or a Clark board. Those are 'Tamiya compatible' which means they'll send and receive Tamiya's IR code for battle.
If you really want Tamiya, which I'd recommend, you can get a M4 for around $500, much better deal than buying individual parts for your HL. The AAF Museum has King Tigers for $630 if you want to stick with Heavy German. Either option would still require a hobby grade Tx/Rx and battle unit.
