RE: vmax7 and motor mod
Glad your 6 is ok Alan, I wish you the best of luck with it
Could be right about the compression! I tried everything to cure my abrupt engine cuts and the only thing which worked (just after I'd ordered my VMax-7!) was lowering the compression. I now have five washers in there. It still has plenty of power, doesn't splutter when I throttle-up, doesn't overheat, and more importantly it doesn't just stop running any more
I've got to wonder why I didn't try using this many washers before ordering my new engine - and I think the answer is that I didn't believe the engine would actually run with so many washers! Of course, the weather's changed here and that could make a difference too (it's turned really cool and "damp" recently)
Do I regret ordering the VMax-7 - definitely not! I love IC but hate "fiddling" to get an engine running "on song." I've read that the 7 is much less "finicky" to set-up, so I'm looking forward to getting the new engine and giving it a try. Think I'll run it in and get it set-up like you did - with an aero prop fitted
