How about food dye? I never used it in fuel so just a taught....
Back in the day, (60's and 70's) I used to mix my own glow fuel, and sometimes dyed it with food coloring. It had no effect on the fuel, other than to color it, making it easier to see the fuel level in the plastic tanks.
