I hope this post is on topic. In the 70's (don't remember the exact year) I was sent what I was told by a Japanese export agent, was the first JR radio in the US. It was sent to me to test to decide if I (Royal Electronics Corp) wanted to be the exclusive importer of the JR radio line.
I could see the hand writing on the wall that we (all US producers) could not compete with Japanese production in the coming years. I test flew the radio for several months and decided it met our requirements and gave a verbal commitment to the export agent. A few weeks later I was informed that the exclusive went to Circus Hobbies. I have never found out the details of what happened.
I thought I still had the test radio but could not find it right now. I may have sent it to the Radio Control Museum in Cleveland,OH. when I sent my collection of Royal radios. If I find the radio I will post a picture.
