Polarised prescription sun glasses were recommended to me by my optometrist for model flying.
Like David I couldn't see my radio screen or the instruments properly in my car.
I felt quite uneasy wearing them so the optometrist changed them to standard lenses.

I don't need a prescription but I was told by the optician that they're better for making the model stand out against a difficult background like a hillside but they're a pain when you need to look at your Tx screen.
I swapped to a pair of standard Oakley's and never looked back
