Sunglasses- polarization comments

Polarised prescription sun glasses were recommended to me by my optometrist for model flying.
Like David I couldn't see my radio screen or the instruments properly in my car.
I felt quite uneasy wearing them so the optometrist changed them to standard lenses.

I swapped to a pair of standard Oakley's and never looked back

I have noticed a lot of guys wearing the red tint, haven't used them myself so I cannot comment.
I don't think that colour tint is available for prescriptions & you would look like a bit of a rooster
if you wore them for other than model flying.
May be worth a try?

I have been using polorized prescription lenses for several years . The bad is you wont be able to read LED and LCD displays , but you dont need to eead the screen while flying anyway. The good is a lot less glare , clearity is much better , better depth perception.

I use polarized oakleys for blue skies and have some brownish red non polarized I use for overcast.
Like others said though it messes with you looking at the LCD screens. A few times I have gotten pissed that my data terminal was not working but every time it was working and was my sunglasses lol.

I have flown a variety of disciplines where keeping visual track of the model was a challenge.
The only time I would use polarized lenses would be in low sun conditions.
At all other times my Axis Rangers are the go to shades. They really make the model stand out against clouds and grey skies. Also they are a secret weapon if you are flying gliders using thermals as they really help with cloud definition.
Mind you in my current life polarized sunglasses are a major safety item when using eyeball navigation in reef strewn water.

I thought polarized lenses mainly helped with glare, the reflected light (off of a road, surface of water, snow, ice) that ends up having much more horizontally polarized light that the light you see looking up at a model.
BTW, I used to use the big name brand in fitover sunglasses, IMHO these are just as good at 1/10 the cost
