Default P-80 temp-probe probably gone

I attempted to start my (old) P-80 but would not spool up. I then noticed the temp-reading to be 1070 degrees C!! The probe sits under the plastic-shield with 3 pins witch fits very loose, tried to tighten this some, but same result. The >GSU reads E`and the high temp-value so the probe need to be replaced I guess. Can this really happen out of the blue?
Also the yellow diode on the board blinks continuosly. What does this mean?
