So, got to maiden my Greatplanes Waco with the NGH GF 38 engine fitted. Went really really well!! Needed some nose-up trim, but everything else was just fine. I was expecting it to be a handful on the take-off roll, but easy application of power and some use of the rudder kept it straight. Climbed out beautifully.
Elevator had plenty of authority as per the high-rate setting, have since dialed in a bit more aileron and rudder travel as I wanted more rudder for ground steering and I felt the aileron was a bit slow (but probably scale!!) at the high-rate settings.
Landing was pretty quick, tail stayed off the ground for a long time when landing and when I fed a little elevator in to sit the tail down she became airborne again!! Will watch for that in future.
Really happy with this model!! I have included a few photos of the engine set-up, codedlanguage showed an interest a few posts back. I did not add any weight anywhere, it is fairly well balanced as is. Perhaps it is a tad nose-heavy, but it climbs out fine and is trimmed out level so I think I can live with it. The 4 stroke sound is awesome!!
